She has grown into a deep level of compassion and comfort navigating the complex nature of the human experience especially on the emotional, energetic, and spiritual levels. She intimately understands the interrelated nature of our psychology with our physiology, and has a wealth of wisdom and knowledge to offer those who may need some tools and support in bringing themselves back to balance and wholeness. Offering Zenthai Shiatsu, Acupuncture, Medical Qi Gong, as well as TCM lifestyle and diet support, Clara would love to support you in recovering your radiant well-being. Clara seeks to empower each individual to learn how to better care for themselves as well as to fully receive support from others within this interconnected web of life. She strives to provide a non-judgmental inclusive space and is LGBTQIA+ friendly.

Since 2017 Clara has been studying, practicing, and teaching Zenthai Shiatsu as well as many of its individual components. Since 2017 she has also completed her Zenthai Flow Teacher Training (a 5 element based style of Yoga asana training) and Acro Yoga Teacher Training with Vancity Acro, Graduated as the Valedictorian from Pacific Rim College with a diploma in Acupuncture, and undertaken a 5 year Qi Gong Teacher Training with Soma Dao Qi Gong.

In 2022, Clara spent a second year in Australia where she assistant-taught the full 9-month Zenthai Shiatsu Therapist training alongside her teacher Gwyn Williams. She is proud to have been given permission to bring the 9-month program back to Canada. Additionally, she undertook a few advanced Zenthai Shiatsu courses, one in Fluid Zenthai and one in Zenthai for Pregnancy. Upon her most recent return to Canada, Clara also completed a course in Prenatal Acupuncture.

As a facilitator, her teaching style weaves together softness, strength, and playfulness. She is known to have clear instruction, a calm demeanor, and contagious enthusiasm. She draws inspiration from her love of all things movement, from the changing seasons of the natural world, and from all the beloved teachers and friends that have blessed her life. Clara believes that healing together as a community is fundamental to health and is so grateful for the foundation of togetherness that Zenthai Shiatsu has brought into her life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Zen Thai Shiatsu?
Zen Thai Shiatsu is a holistic bodywork therapy that integrates Traditional Thai Massage, Japanese Zen Shiatsu, and Osteopathic techniques. It’s performed fully clothed on a mat on the floor and combines gentle pressure, stretching, and energy line work to support the body’s natural healing processes.
How is Zen Thai Shiatsu different from regular massage or acupuncture?
Unlike Western massage which focuses on muscle tissue, Zen Thai Shiatsu works with energy meridians (sen lines), the nervous system, and fascia to restore flow and balance. While acupuncture uses needles, this therapy uses hands, feet, and body weight to apply rhythmic pressure and stretching.
What should I expect during a typical Zen Thai Shiatsu session?
You’ll lie on a comfortable mat, fully clothed in loose-fitting clothing. The practitioner will use palms, thumbs, elbows, and gentle movements to release tension, improve flexibility, and rebalance your energy. Sessions are deeply relaxing and grounding.
Is Zen Thai Shiatsu based on Traditional Chinese Medicine?
Yes, it draws from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as well as Thai and Japanese traditions. It focuses on meridian pathways and energy flow, supporting the body’s ability to heal and return to homeostasis.
